After three days of traveling and an eleven-hour time change, we arrived safely at our temporary home in Siem Reap Cambodia. We met our lovely hosts, Shannon and Vicky, unpacked our suitcases for the first time in almost two weeks, and then enjoyed the evening getting to know each other over an amazing Khmer dinner. We spent the weekend resting and on Sunday we had our orientation.
Monday through Thursday we joined the three English teachers and Shannon and Vicky in visiting the villages. They teach English and bible stories with an occasional song or game to keep things interesting. They also teach multiple women’s bible studies throughout the week.
It has been a privilege to watch the people of New Day New Life interact with the children. They are filled with God’s love and because of this, they are giving their time to teach English to these precious children with the hope of ultimately showing them who Jesus is. The children have been so dear as well. One day while our team was weeding they brought us crowns, bracelets, and rings made from the plants we were pulling.
So far our team has been learning how the ministry we are here to support operates and how to fit into the body of Christ around us in a way that is a blessing and means of growth to each individual. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be here in Cambodia. Thank you for your prayers.
