These past 10 days of training camp have been great. My highlight has been meeting our team and starting to get to know each other. Our team leader is Coryn, and our teammates are Clarah, Maya, Alyssa, Olivia Eck, Sarah Ruiz, Klay, Olivia B, Ashley, Ellie, and myself. We’ve spent a lot of time together the last couple of days playing games, discussing what we learned, eating, and working out.
We had two sessions each day from various speakers. When we weren’t in a session we were usually doing things like laundry, cleaning up campus, showering, having team time, or just hanging out at our campsite. Three squads were sharing our campsite which was in a little opening in the woods. My squad shared a ten-person tent.
The first night we were there the message was about God’s ability to work beyond our previous experiences of Him. He is bigger than our brain. The speaker urged us to pray dangerous prayers and believe God to work marvelously during our travels and beyond.

On the weekend we went to a local park. Our squad split up into three groups and walked around enjoying the beautiful scenery. We decided to walk to an ice cream shop where we spoke with a father and son. They had both traveled to Southeast Asia so they were able to share a bit of their experiences with us. The son shared a story of when he was in Australia. He was sitting in his room when he heard the Lord tell him to start walking so he got up and went outside, until eventually he reached a rose garden from which he heard Amazing Grace being sung. The music was coming from a gazebo where Chinese Christians were praising God. He had never seen them before but when he walked in they told him they had been waiting for him to show up. He prayed for us and our trip before we parted ways to walk back to the park.
God is so precise in how He plans our days. So thankful for the opportunity to be here at training camp and looking forward to our upcoming travels to Cambodia and Thailand.
